Walmart Return Policy on TVs

Walmart accepts returns of almost any product with minimal restrictions; they want to keep you happy as a customer so that you return and keep spending money with them. If you return your TV within the policy timeframe for a legitimate reason, you will find the process very easy.

Walmart will accept any legitimate return for a refund or exchange, whether you want to return food, clothes, video games, or large TVs.

Walmart provides a general returns policy and leaves a lot of the decisions up to local store managers. If you’re in doubt or fall outside return timeframes, you can always go and talk to your local Walmart store.

Can You Return TVs to Walmart?

Walmart accepts returns of all TVs purchased in-store or online within 30 days as long as you provide a receipt. Full refunds or exchanges are available on unopened items. If you open the TV then a full refund or exchange is available if it’s still in good condition and you return all accessories with it, including legs and remote.

There are no restocking fees or limitations on returning your TV unless you have damaged the TV through improper use or handling.

Can I Return Refurbished TVs?

You can return refurbished TVs to Walmart using the same policy as new TVs. There is no difference in how Walmart treats and supports their refurbished TVs. You will have 30 days to return the product for a refund or exchange.

The big difference with refurbished TVs is that there may be minor damage such as scratches that you agree to when you purchase it, and the defect warranty will only be for 90 days, as opposed to a full 1-year.

Can I Return TVs From The Marketplace?

Walmart allows you to buy TVs from independent sellers through the Walmart.com website, and the return policies can be different for every seller on there, so it’s essential to check that seller’s return policy. In most cases, you can drop the TV off at your local Walmart to return to the seller.

There are minimum requirements for a seller return policy, which can drop your timeframe to 15 days if you purchase one of those TVs.

It can take up to 48 hours for your refund to be processed, so you may not get it instantly when you drop off the TV at a store.

Can I Return TVs to Walmart After 30 Days?

You can’t return TVs to Walmart after 30 days of purchasing them. However, most TVs have a limited 1-year warranty for any product defect that appears, which will require you to discuss issues directly with the manufacturer.

You can purchase a Walmart Protection Plan for your product which will give an extended warranty and support through Walmart for any issues you experience with your TV.

If you did purchase a Walmart Protection Plan with your TV and want to return your TV within 30 days, you also need to cancel your protection plan independently of the TV return.

Reviews online indicate that some stores will accept TVs after 30 days in exchange for store credit; however, this is entirely up to the store manager who controls store policy.

Walmart TV Return Exceptions

As with all products that you buy from Walmart, the return policies are very generous, and generally, you won’t need much more than the product and proof that you purchased it from Walmart to get a refund or exchange.

If The TV Is Damaged: TVs can be returned if damaged when you open them, you can return them within 30 days for a full refund or exchange; if Walmart determines you damaged the product, you won’t get a refund.

In most cases, TVs sold by Walmart will not have visible issues, and damage will be internal. External damage will be checked more thoroughly.

If You Don’t Have A Receipt: Having a receipt is a requirement to return your TV; however, Walmart can look up your receipt as long as you can provide certain information, including your government-issued photo ID.

Your refund will need to be returned to the original payment method, which is partially why the receipt is required.

You can look up a lost receipt online by going to the Walmart receipt finder here.

If You Don’t Have The Original Packaging: Original packaging is preferred but not required to return your product; however, all accessories must be returned with the TV. So ensure you don’t throw items out before the 30 day return period is up, and even better, hold onto the box if you can.

If The TV Is Opened and Used: You can use your TV for up to 30 days before you need to return it. As long as there is no damage and you return everything that came with the TV, there is no problem getting a refund or exchange.
