What The Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink Is Like

The Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink is a sleek and well-designed product. It has a matte black finish with the Samsung logo in the upper left.

Weighing only 2.40 ounces, the Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink is very slim, measuring at only 3.15 x 0.94 x 0.34 inches, allowing it to fit in most PC cases with ease.

The Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink is very easy to install. Simply unscrew the old SSD, replace it with the new one, and then attach it using two screws. The entire installation process took me less than five minutes.

I played games such as Fallout 76, Red Dead Redemption II, and Monster Hunter World on my PC with the Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink installed, and the loading times were seamless. I also tried to transfer large files such as 100 GB of data to test the speed, which was very quick.

Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink Pros & Cons

Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink Pros

With up to 7000 MB per second maximum sequential read speed, Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink makes your entire computing experience smooth and fast.

The Heatsink feature is essential in ensuring that the SSD doesn’t overheat. My previous Samsung 970 Evo Plus SSD for a year before it overheated, but I had no more heating issues after using this product.

Samsung provides a five-year warranty, which is a plus because I know that the company stands behind its products.

Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink Cons

Currently, Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink is only available in 1 TB and 2 TB. I hope that Samsung will make this product available in larger storage capacities soon.

The downside to this product is its price tag. It is priced at $199.99 on Amazon, Newegg, Best Buy, and the Samsung website. The standalone Samsung 980 Pro is only at $109.99, which is $90 lower than Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink.

I found it costly, but the performance and features outweigh this con for me.

Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink vs Samsung 980 Pro

Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink is an improvement to the previous Samsung 980 Pro by adding a cooler included in the SSD.

There have been heating issues with the previous Samsung 980 Pro, so Samsung has addressed this issue with the Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink. The Heatsink helps keep the SSD from overheating, making it run more efficiently.

The Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink has only two capacity options, while the Samsung 980 Pro has four.

There is also a $90 difference in price between the two products. The Samsung 980 Pro with Heatsink is priced at $199.99, while the previous model without Heatsink was only $109.99

Why Buy Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink?

Although Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink is not the fastest SSD option on the market, there are reasons for which you might want to buy it.

Branding

Carrying the Samsung name, it is a very reliable product, and people have been saying that they’re getting their money’s worth from this SSD.

Heatsink Feature

The heatsink feature is the main reason you might want to buy this SSD. Standalone SSDs usually tend to heat up while in use, but this has not been an issue with the Heatsink included.

Performance

Sequential read and write speeds are very important, especially when transferring files or playing games. The Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink provides great performance in this area.

PlayStation5 Compatibility

This is another feature of the Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink as it can also be used in PlayStation5. The product comes in at 8.6mm thick, so you can play your games on this console without experiencing latency or overheating problems.

Is The Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink Worth It?

This SSD is designed for those looking for a reliable product that delivers great performance in terms of sequential read and write speeds.

The Heatsink feature is also a plus, making this product perfect for those looking to avoid any overheating problems. The downside is that it is not the cheapest option on the market, but if you are looking for a high-quality product, this might be the best choice for you.

Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink is also recommended to those users who have been moving a lot of heavy data, such as games, large files, and videos. The Heatsink can keep the performance at its peak while doing these activities without worrying about damaging or overheating your SSD.

With that in mind, if you are looking for an upgrade to your PC or PlayStation experience, then I believe that the Samsung 980 Pro Heatsink is an excellent option.

On the other hand, if you already have a great cooling system or you are on a tight budget, then the regular Samsung 980 Pro might be a better choice for you. You might consider other brands, such as WD_Black, Seagate, or Crucial.
