How to Use Personal Hotspot on Android

Many Android devices allow users to set up a Wi-Fi network so that other devices can connect to the internet. The hotspot feature allows you to turn on or off Wi-Fi on your Android phone.

You can turn your Android phone into a wireless hotspot by going to the settings app and then select Mobile Hotspot.

To set up your personal Wi-Fi hotspot using your Android phone, just follow the steps laid out by the video below.

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Connections
  3. Select Mobile Hotspot and Tethering
  4. Tap Mobile Hotspot to toggle the switch to On
  5. Towards the bottom of your screen, you will see the name of your hotspot and the password needed to access this hotspot
  6. You are done!

The Wi-Fi hotspot feature is turned off when you no longer need it. It can be used to recharge your cellphone battery.

Some mobile phone carriers provide a standalone app to activate the hotspot feature. Other devices and carriers require the use of a dedicated app.

If you’re having trouble setting up an Android personal hotspot, check that the Wi-Fi is turned on. If it is, then check if the Mobile Hotspot or the Smartphone Mobile Internet surfing feature is turned on.
